History of the institute

Robert Elvorti Economics and Technology Institute is the first private higher education institution in Kropyvnytskyi

The history of the institute dates back to 1993, when the Kirovohrad Institute of Commerce was established. In 2009, the license for the right to carry out educational activities at the level of junior specialist in "Finance and Credit" was obtained (license: series AB №443636, 08.05.09) and the College of Economics and Law was opened.

In August 2017, the owners of the institute changed. The Elworthy Charitable Foundation became the new owner. In December 2017, the name of the institute was changed to “Robert Elvorti Economics and Technology Institute”.

Personnel policy at the institute is conducted on the basis of careful selection of highly qualified experienced professionals and talented young people. The international relations programs of the institute ensure the growth of the professional level of teachers. Teachers of the institute also participate in international business development programs funded by the European Union (Productivity Initiative Program, TACIS; JICAP, UK). Free preparation courses for the TOEFL exam have been organized for students and teachers of the institute.

Since 1996, Robert Elvorti Economics and Technology Institute has a fruitful collaboration with the Peace Corps (USA) and invites highly qualified specialists for long-term stays and teaching at faculties. During this time, Peace Corps faculty members Eugene Leslie (North Carolina State University), Andrew Bill (Georgetown University, Washington), Justin Coe (University of California), Paul Grau, Kate Robinson, Dwayne and Molly Norlin, Barris Norris, Barr others worked at the institute.

The Institute has maintained scientific ties with scientists and students from Poland, Great Britain, the United States and Hungary for a long time. These connections are made through staff exchanges, internships, publications of scientific works, participation in discussions on economic development, public lectures by well-known scientists, visits to research institutions and educational institutions of different countries, etc.

The scientific and educational role of the institute for our town is supported by the tradition of 1997 to conduct regular public lectures in the humanities, which are given by Ukrainian and foreign scientists. Honorary Doctors of Robert Elvorti Economics and Technology Institute are M. Clarkson Webb, D. K. Spunley, P. Miles and others.

To ensure a unified European approach to assessing and comparing the academic achievements of students studying in different higher education institutions Robert Elvorti Economics and Technology Instituteuses the European Credit Transfer System, which is designed for students and is based on determining the student workload needed to achieve the goals of the program. Robert Elvorti Economics and Technology Instituteaims to continually improve her students' approaches to learning. Realizing the fact that theoretical education does not keep pace with the rapid technical progress and growing demands of the labor market to young professionals, our institute is constantly working to ensure that graduates have not only thorough theoretical training, but modern practical skills. To this end, cooperation has been established with the leading enterprises of "Elvorti", "Hydrosila", "Hydrosila APM", "Hydrosila LEDA" and a dual form of education is being introduced. Dual education is another significant step towards achieving this goal. The achieved successes became possible primarily due to the high level of teaching at the institute.

Education at Robert Elvorti Economics and Technology Instituteis currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in the following areas of study: 071 Accounting and Taxation, 072 Finance, Banking and Insurance, 073 Management, 075 Marketing, 051Economics, 131 Applied mechanics, 122Computer science. The educational qualification level “Junior Bachelor” in the direction of training 072 Finance, Banking and Insurance can be obtained at the Economics and Law College of Robert Elvorti Economics and Technology Institute. Students also have the opportunity to continue their studies in the master's program in the direction of training 073 Management.

According to the Law of Ukraine "On Higher Education", the educational process at Robert Elvorti Economics and Technology Institute is carried out in the form of classes, independent work, practical training and control activities. The main types of classes are lectures, laboratory researches, practical classes, seminars, independent work and individual classes and consultations. By the decision of the Academic Council of Robert Elvorti Economics and Technology Institute 5 departments were created: “Finance and Economics”, “Accounting, Marketing and Management”, “Social Sciences and Humanities” and “Applied Mechanics”.

Financial and economic activity is based mainly on funds received from individuals and legal entities for training. The efficiency of financial and economic activity is evidenced by the ever-growing material and technical base of the institute. The main principle is to provide appropriate conditions and tools for a full-fledged educational process.

Over the years of the institute's activity, the indicators characterizing the development of the institute have been changing in the direction of its increase and improvement. At present, Robert Elvorti Economics and Technology Institute has a well-developed material and technical base, which allows to carry out the educational process at a modern level, to train specialists in accordance with the requirements of the time and the needs of the region and Ukraine. In 2018, the construction of a new modern building of Robert Elvorti Economics and Technology Institute finished. The institute has computer classes, a library with a reading room, a dining room, laboratories, etc. Each lecture hall is equipped with laptops and video projectors to ensure a modern quality level of education.

The strategy of further development of the institute is determined by the coordinated functioning of the existing separate subsystems of pre-university, university and postgraduate training together with new functions of cooperation with teachers of secondary schools and colleges and the creation of the teams of continuous training on this basis.

The regional mission of the institute is the continuity of cultural and educational traditions of regional education, as well as science and education of the Central region.
